MOBI’s Battery Innovation Centre is the largest academic battery lab in Belgium (over 260 cells can be tested in parallel).

This infrastructure consists of:

 

2 battery testers at cell level (PEC – SBT 0550):

  • 24 channels (each)
  • Maximum current per channel: 50A
  • With multiple channels in parallel maximum current up to 600A
  • Temperature sensor for every channel
  • Operating voltage range: 0-5V

 

1 battery tester at module level (PEC – SBT 8050):

  • 12 channels
  • Maximum current per channel: 50A
  • With multiple channels in parallel maximum current up to 600A
  • Temperature sensors for every channel
  • Operating voltage range: 0-80V

 

1 battery tester at cell level (PEC – SBT 05250L):

  • 16 channels
  • Maximum current per channel: 250A
  • 2 temperature sensors per channel
  • Operating voltage range: 0-5V

 

2 battery testers at cell level (PEC – ACT 0550):

  • 80 channels (each)
  • Maximum current per channel: 50A
  • With multiple channels in parallel maximum current up to 1000A
  • Temperature sensor for every channel
  • Operating voltage range: 0-5V

 

11 temperature chambers:

  • Volume: 3X350L, 6X200L and 1X50L
  • Temperature operating range: -40°C up to 180°C
  • From which 2 chambers with humidity control

 

3 temperature rooms:

  • Volume: 3X16m3
  • Temperature operating range: -20°C up to 60°C

 

2 EIS testers (Bio-Logic MPG205):

  • 8 channels (each)
  • Operating voltage range: -2V to +9V
  • Maximum current per channel: 5A
  • Operating frequency: up to 20 kHz

 

1 EIS tester  with current booster (Bio-Logic VSP):

  • 5 channels
  • Operating voltage range: -2V to +9V
  • Maximum current (booster): 100A
  • Operating frequency: up to 10 kHz

 

1 battery cycler for coin and small cells (Bio-Logic BCS-805):

  • 16 channels
  • Voltage range: 0V to +10V
  • EIS capability: 10mHz up to 10kHz
  • Potential resolution: 40 micro Volt
  • Current resolution: down to 800 nA

 

2 Thermal Imagers

1 Buchi Vacuum Oven

5 EL Cells 2/3 electrodes : housing samples of active materials

1 ELCO meter

Lab power supplies (see further)

Controllable DC lab power (bi-directional): 300V – 500A
